What is Corian®


Corian® invented by DuPont in the mid-1960s is the original solid surface . 
Durable and practical, it can be used to create countertops, wall cladding, furniture, lighting and many other applications. The available in sheets and formed products.  Are  translucent,  with bas-relief design and can be custom-made based on our unlimited design imagination.


Made from minerals and high-performance acrylic, Corian® is  non-porous resist stains and bacteria.   Can bend and formed in almost any shapes and available in more than 100 colors.  It is safe for food contact and food preparation.  Can be designed as part or in whole, fabricate plain or curved for sink and many others.  Translucent where  the light can get through. You can design a wall lamp or various unique identity of your own including bending or forming 2D and 3D.  Design and fabrication is limitless.

Corian® Feature & Benefit:


RESISTANT :
Durable material that don’t delaminate and stands up well to daily wear and tear.   It resists most of the impacts, nicks and cuts that occur in heavy traffic areas.

 
 
     
 
HYGIENIC :
Non-porous material and solid with inconspicuous seams, making the surface hygienic.  Surfaces do not support the growth  of bacteria or fungi.  Certified for food contact by Food and Drug Administration in America.
     
 
REPAIRABLE :
Repairable and renewable, can be fully  restored like new with mild abrasive cleansers and a scouring pad. Cigarette burns can be easily  removed. Damage caused by abuse can be repaired on site without having to completely replace the  material.
     
 
NON –TOXIC  :
Inert and non-toxic material. Under normal temperature conditions, it does not emit gases.  Corian®  is used in public areas and for sensitive applications such as airport check-in counters, walls and work surfaces in hospitals and hotels.
     
 
SOLID :
Colours and patterns run through the entire thickness of the material and cannot wear away. DuPont Corian®  is a  solid material and cannot delaminate.
     
 
INCONSPICUOUS JOINTS :
Pieces of Corian®  can be glued together  inconspicuously to create a seamless look, giving virtually unlimited design possibilities for surfaces
     



THERMOFORMABLE :
DuPont Corian®  can heat and bend to create various  2D and 3D design objects. Embossing effects can also be created using the Bas Relief technique.
 
     

TRANSLUCENT :
The translucency Corian®  is especially striking in the lighter colours  and thinner sheets. Many  for lamps or lighting effects and other special effects.
 
     

ENVIRONMENTALLY  FRIENDLY :
Is manufactured in compliance with strict standards in order  to limit waste and energy consumption at all stages of the production process.   Adhesives and sealants used to install  passed GREEN GUARD Indoor Air Quality  Certified®  as producing low VOC  emissions.
 
     

Corian® Care and Maintenance

DuPontTM Corian® solid surface was created for a lifetime of easy care. Just follow the simple guidelines listed here to help you keep your Corian® surfaces looking fresh.


Cleaning All Finishes

Most Dirt & Residue: Use soapy water, ammonia based cleaner, (not window  cleaner) rinse and wipe completely. Commercially available solid surface cleaners, such as Clean Encounters® will also work well.

Preventing Hard Water  Marks: Rinse and wipe completely dry after cleaning; clean up spills before they dry.

Removing Hard Water Marks: Use cleaner formulated for removing hard water marks, such as CLR® or Lime-A-Way®.

Difficult residue : Spray residue with Deep Cleaner for DuPontTM Corian® from Stone Care International.  Follow  instructions on the bottle. If residue persists, repeat process. Wash area with soapy water, rinse and wipe  completely dry. If residue persists, follow steps below for removing dulling film.

TIPS :
DO NOT PLACE HOT POTS, PANS, ETC., DIRECTLY ON THE COUNTERTOP SURFACE.
Always use heat trivets or hot pads when placing hot objects on any surface. Always use a trivet under portable heat generating appliances such as a toaster oven. Allow cookware to cool before placing it into a Corian® sink.



 

Preventing Other Damage

In most cases Corian® solid surface can be repaired if damaged. Be sure to follow these guidelines to help you prevent permanent damage.
  • Avoid getting strong chemicals, such as paint removers, oven cleaners, etc., on your Corian® countertop. If a spill does occur, promptly flush the surface with water to fully rinse off the chemical.
  • Do not cut directly on Corian® countertops. Use a cutting board.
  • Boiling water alone will not damage your Corian® sink; however, it is a recommended practice to run cold water from the  faucet while pouring boiling water into the sink.
